OSI Networking Model

One of the types of Network Model is OSI Networking Model.

  • ISO (International Organization for Standardization) took on the task to create the first open vendor-neutral Networking Model for Aiding the competition & Reducing the complexity of what would become known as the OSI (Open System Interconnection) Networking Model.

  • OSI Model was Published in 1984.

  • Messages which were termed as Frames, Packets & Segments in the TCP-IP Model are termed as PDU in the OSI Networking Model. (E.g. L1 PDU, L2PDU, L3 PDU, etc.)
